UK Statement to the International Atomic Energy Agency extraordinary meeting of the Board of Governors, 11 December 2014
IAEA Board of Governors meeting, Vienna, Austria
11 December 2014
Thank you, Madam Chair.
The United Kingdom associates itself with the statement made by the distinguished Ambassador of Italy on behalf of the European Union, and I would like to make some brief additional remarks.
The IAEA continues to have an essential role to play in verifying the nuclear-related aspects of the Joint Plan of Action. I would like to underline the United Kingdom’s ongoing appreciation to the Director General and all his staff for all they have done so far, and their readiness to carry on this work.
The Agency’s role in the verification of the Plan is in the interests of the whole international community, and we encourage Member States to give the Agency their full support. I am therefore pleased to announce that the United Kingdom intends to continue to contribute to this work both financially and through the provision of expert training.
