UK statement on recent events in Venezuela

A statement from the UK Foreign Office on recent events in Venezuela

Foreign and Commonwealth Office, London

A UK Foreign Office spokesman said:

We are saddened by the death of a demonstrator in Venezuela this week and troubled by the disqualification of Henrique Capriles from public office.

We call on all sides to resolve their differences through dialogue in good faith and to refrain from violence.

We call on the Venezuelan Government to allow peaceful demonstrations and respect the separation of powers, in line with the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
