UK defence chief reaffirms support for Lebanon’s security

Lieutenant General Sir Charlie Collins KBE DSO, Deputy Chief of the Defence Staff (Military Strategy and Operations), concluded a visit to Lebanon.

During the visit, Lieutenant General Collins met Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri, Lebanese Armed Forces Commander General Rodolph Haykal, and United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jean Arnault. He was accompanied by Deputy Defence Attaché Squadron Leader Craig Pearson.

Discussions focused on the security situation in south Lebanon and highlighted the critical role of the Lebanese armed forces in safeguarding Lebanon’s sovereignty, supporting state authority, and contributing to long-term stability.

Lieutenant General Collins reaffirmed the UK’s partnership with Lebanon and its continued support for the Lebanese armed forces as the country’s sole legitimate defender. The visit also underscored the UK’s support for diplomatic efforts necessary for reducing tensions, preventing escalation, and creating the conditions for a secure and sustainable future for Lebanon.
