The British Ambassador to Venezuela, John Saville, met Venezuelan top football player Salomón Rondón, who plays as a striker for West Bromwich Albion FC in the Premier League.

The meeting took place at The Hawthorns stadium, West Bromwich. The Ambassador said he was delighted that Venezuela’s most emblematic footballer is playing in the Premier League, the world’s best known football league, in the country where the game originated.

The Ambassador briefed Rondón about sports projects that the UK has implemented in Venezuela, such as the GREAT Rugby Festival in 2015, aimed at promoting community development. He also briefed him on a similar football initiative that is planned for 2017.

The Venezuelan Ambassador to the UK, Rocío Maneiro, was invited by Ambassador Saville to participate in the meeting with Rondón, one of Venezuela’s most important athletes, and to watch the match against Manchester City FC as a guest of West Bromwich Albion FC.
