Speech: Guardian Activate Summit 2014 in Singapore

His Excellency Antony Phillipson, British High Commissioner to Singapore, made a speech at the Guardian Activate Summit.

Supported by UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), the Guardian Activate Summit was held in Singapore from 16 to 17 January 2014.

The British High Commissioner Antony Phillipson made three points:

  • The UK government will use digital technology to drive better services and lower costs, designing services around what users need. By 2015, we aim to be the most digital government in the G8.

  • The ICT and Education sectors are key parts of the Industrial Strategy and are enablers for the other sectors.

  • The UK works with Singapore closely in building the knowledge economy through the Economy and Business Partnership (EBP) and projects with National Research Foundation, A*Star, Nanyang Technological University, National University of Singapore, Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore and more.
