Smoother journeys for drivers on M58 around Switch Island

Drivers using the M58 motorway around Switch Island in Merseyside are to get smoother journeys - thanks to a £132,000 Highways Agency project.

The eastbound carriageway of the M58 between Switch Island and junction 1 is to be resurfaced over five nights from Monday 1 September. New road markings and new road studs will also be installed. Road markings on the westbound carriageway will also be refreshed.

Highways Agency project sponsor Jakub Malaj said:

This is routine maintenance to ensure users of the M58 can continue to enjoy safe, smooth and reliable journeys.

While the improvements are being delivered, either the westbound or eastbound carriageway between Switch Island and junction 1 will be closed between 10pm and 5am or 7am at weekends.

Clearly signed diversions using the A506 Bank Lane and M57 via junction 6 at Kirkby will be in place during each of the overnight closures.
