Potholes repairs for A595 in West Cumbria

Road users in west Cumbria are to benefit from Highways Agency action to tackle potholes along the A595 around Whitehaven in November and December.

£170,000 is being spent at 2 locations to tackle potholes, other road surface defects and on renewing road markings and road studs.

Highways Agency project manager Peter Gee said:

This work to tackle wear and tear along the A595 will give drivers safer, smoother journeys. We hope this reassures road users we do listen to their concerns and take action regarding potholes.

We will be doing all the work overnight to minimise inconvenience to drivers.

The projects include:

  • £90,000 of works between Hillcrest and Inkerman junctions just outside Whitehaven between Monday 17 November and Sunday 23 November

  • An £80,000 project between Parton and Pelican Garage north of Whitehaven between Monday 24 November and Sunday 30 November

All the work for each of the schemes will take place overnight between 8pm and 6am. Road users are being advised that each project will also require convoy arrangements with drivers held at temporary traffic signals and led past the road works at 10mph by a contractor’s vehicle.
