Commenting on today’s news that UK GDP is up by 0.8% in third quarter of 2013, Scottish Secretary Alistair Carmichael said:

Today’s encouraging figures show the fastest pace of growth in three years and emphasises that the UK economy is on the road to recovery.

The UK Government is working hard to create a stable platform for sustained growth in our economy. We’re introducing measures to reduce the burden on businesses and to provide support for those who are working hard, yet finding circumstances tough.

Recent figures also show unemployment in Scotland is down, and employment is now at its highest level since before the financial crash. By sticking to our plans we can support the economy as it makes a balanced recovery across all sectors.
