Planned roadworks in North East: Weekly summary for Monday 15 to Sunday 21 December 2014
The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 10 December but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.
A1M junction 63 Interchange, Chester-le-Street, County Durham: Improvement work
There will be various lane closures on the southbound exit slip road and roundabout, ongoing until spring 2015.
A1 Junction 56 to Junction 51, North Yorkshire: Motorway upgrade work
There will be phases of night time lane closures, contraflows and full carriageway closures north and southbound. There will also be narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction 24 hours a day. Work will be ongoing until March 2017.
A1 Coal House to Swalwell Interchanges, Newcastle/Gateshead Western Bypass: Major upgrading work
There are 24 hour narrow lanes, contraflow and a 40mph speed restriction currently in place. There are also night time lane closures in place north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. Further phases of carriageway closures, lane closures and contraflow will be ongoing until spring 2016.
A1 Seaton Burn Interchange, Cramlington, Northumberland: Junction improvement work
Work to improve the interchange will be ongoing until mid December 2014. Phases of night time lane closures and some slip road closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am. A 50mph speed restriction will be in place throughout the works. Additionally there will be night time full closures on the A1 northbound between Gosforth and Seaton Burn, between 8pm and 6am until 22 December.
A1M Junction 62 to Junction 63, County Durham: Structural maintenance work
There will be night time closure in place southbound between 8pm and 6am. The work will be ongoing until 16 December.
A1 Duns Road to Highfields roundabout, Northumberland: Resurfacing
There will be phases of traffic signals and lane closures north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. Further phases of lane closures, contraflow and carriageway closures will follow. Works will be ongoing until 21 December.
A1 Earsdon to Burgham, Northumberland: Resurfacing
There will be convoy working in operation north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place until 21 December.
A1 Newton Low Hall to Old Felton, Northumberland: Resurfacing
There will be night time contraflow in operation north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. There will be also be cylinders in the carriageway and a 50mph speed restriction 24 hours a day. The works will take place until 22 December.
A1M Junction 60 to 59, County Durham: Resurfacing
There will be a southbound carriageway closure between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place 16 - 18 December.
A66 Rokeby Park, County Durham: Resurfacing
There will be convoy working in operation east and westbound between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place until 22 December.
A1 Fenwick, Northumberland: Resurfacing
There will be convoy working in operation north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place until 17 December.
A66 Long Newton, County Durham: Electrical work
There will be a slip road closure eastbound between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place 15 – 17 December.
A1M Junction 60 – 61, County Durham: Resurfacing work
There will be a carriageway closure north and southbound between 8pm and 6am, with a diversion in place. The works will take place 16 – 18 December.
A66 Sadberge, County Durham: Horticultural work
There will be a lane closure eastbound between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place 15 – 16 December.
A66 Melsonby, North Yorkshire: Horticultural work
There will be a lane closure westbound between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place 17 December.
A66 Ravensworth, North Yorkshire: Horticultural work
There will be traffic signals in operation westbound between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place 19 December.
A184 Whitemare Pool to Testos Roundabout, Gateshead: Maintenance work
There will be lane closures east and westbound between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place until 19 December.
