The British High Commission Accra would like to clarify the issue of online visa payments, which has recently been the subject of news reports. From 27 January 2014, the UK introduced compulsory online payments for visas and announced that the fee would be payable in US dollars. While payment will be transacted in US dollars, Ghanaians with a Ghana Cedi credit or debit card can pay for visas as before using their Ghana Cedi account where it allows for foreign currency purchases. There is no need for anyone to have a dollar account. Applicants can now also credit their Skrill account with Cedis and pay in that way.
