Nick Clegg and Miriam González Durántez visited Great Ormond Street hospital this afternoon to join children, parents, carers and volunteers at the hospital’s annual Halloween party. The Deputy Prime Minister toured 2 wards of the hospital and spoke to staff. He was joined by Ms González Durántez for the Halloween party.

The Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg said:

I’ve been bowled over by the heart-warming appreciation, the gratitude from the parents, the cutting-edge technology - all underpinned by a wonderful human touch that everybody seems to have who works here, from the volunteers all the way to the consultants. I’m a huge, huge fan of what Great Ormond Street has done.

It’s not only, of course, a great hospital full of children who desperately need the help here, but it’s also a fantastic example of the very best of what we do in this country. Great Ormond Street has, quite rightly, got a worldwide reputation for being one of the most outstanding children’s hospitals of its kind anywhere in the world.
