Marco Amitrano appointed to the Professional and Business Services Council

Marco Amitrano has been appointed Business Co-Chair of the Professional and Business Services Council (PBSC).

Marco Amitrano, Senior Partner of PwC UK & Middle East, has been appointed Business Co-Chair of the Professional and Business Services Council (PBSC). Baroness Lloyd of Effra CBE will continue to serve as Government Co-Chair.

Marco assumed the role of Business Co-Chair on 1 June 2026 for a two-year term. He will succeed Iain Wright, who has served as interim chair since October 2024.

The PBSC is the main independent forum for the Professional and Business Services (PBS) sector and the UK Government. The council brings together government and industry to drive the long-term success of the UK’s Professional and Business Services sector – one of the eight growth-driving sectors in the UK’s modern Industrial Strategy.

Marco brings over 30 years of international experience in advisory and assurance services at PwC. He joined the UK Executive Board in 2016 as Head of Consulting, before becoming Head of Clients and Markets in 2020, Managing Partner in 2022, and Senior Partner of PwC UK & Middle East in 2024.

On his appointment to the role, Marco Amitrano said:

I’m delighted to take on the role of Business Co-Chair of the PBSC at such an important moment for the UK economy. The Professional and Business Services sector is a UK success story and, as a priority sector in the Industrial Strategy, will play a central role in driving investment, innovation and growth.

There is a real opportunity to further strengthen the sector’s impact and reach. I look forward to working with the Government and Industry to help deliver for businesses and communities across the UK.

Baroness Lloyd of Effra CBE, Minister for Digital Economy said:

The Professional and Business Services sector is vital to the UK economy, both as one of the largest employing sectors and as a driver of growth across the wider economy.

Strong collaboration between government and industry is essential to maintaining this success, and the PBSC plays a vital role in bringing partners together to deliver our sector plan. I look forward to working with Marco and am delighted he has accepted the position.

I would also like to thank Iain Wright for his leadership as interim chair, including overseeing development of the Professional and Business Services Industrial Strategy Sector Plan.
