Man who raped two girls has sentence increased after Attorney General intervenes
A sexual predator who raped two young girls in separate attacks and filmed their abuse, had his sentence increased following intervention by the Attorney General, Ellie Reeves KC MP.
Liam Ross, of Dartford, Kent, had his sentence increased by 3 years to 15 years’ imprisonment with a one-year licence extension, after the Attorney General, Ellie Reeves KC MP, referred his case to the Court of Appeal under the Unduly Lenient Sentence scheme.
The Court heard that Ross, aged 29 at the time of the offending, met the 16-year-old victim over social media. Ross pursued a sexual relationship with the victim, and they met up on multiple occasions, after which Ross would give the victim money.
Despite receiving a police warning letter about the risks of his behaviour following a previous incident, Ross continued undeterred, leading to further criminal acts.
On one occasion in April 2025, Ross raped the victim when she was unconscious after consuming alcohol.
On a separate occasion in May 2025, Ross provided the 16-year-old and a 12-year-old girl with alcohol. He then engaged in sexual activity with both victims, raping the 12-year-old, and filmed the abuse. Afterwards, he gave them money.
When police arrested Ross, indecent images of children and video recordings of some of the offences committed May 2025, were found on his mobile phone.
In a victim personal statement, a mother of one of the victims said that since the abuse, her daughter does not feel safe in their daily life and suffers from severe anxiety and depression.

My thoughts are with the victims who have shown courage and bravery in coming forward. Violence against women and girls is a national epidemic, and stopping it remains my number one priority as Attorney General. I will continue to push for sentences that reflect the severity of these crimes.
On 2 March 2026, at Woolwich Crown Court, Liam Ross was sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment with a one-year licence extension for one count of rape of a child under 13, one count of assault of a child under 13 by penetration, one count of paying for sexual services of a child, one count of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, one count of causing or inciting sexual exploitation of a child, one count of rape, one count of sexual assault, two counts of taking indecent photographs of a child and three counts of making indecent photographs of a child.
On 3 September 2026, at the Court of Appeal, Liam Ross’s sentence was increased to 15 years.
