More than 30 of the UK’s most innovative companies are in India this week. This is the first delegation of its kind in India. The business delegation will be showcasing their high tech smart city solutions at the India-UK TECH Summit in New Delhi. The delegation will then travel to Pune and Kochi where they will meet representatives from government and industry to explore partnership opportunities.

British High Commissioner to India, Dominic Asquith said:

The UK is committed to working with India to deliver its ambitious 100 smart cities programme. The UK has already partnered with Amravati, Pune and Indore and our impressive business delegation shows that UK companies are keen to provide cutting-edge solutions to India’s smart cities.

The UK’s smart cities offer is vast, from the development of connected vehicles, intelligent transport systems, data analytics and energy systems. The UK also benefits from an open and welcoming regulatory environment with strong government commitment to providing support in areas such as autonomous vehicles and city wide emissions reduction. The establishment of a city demonstrator and research and development facilities such as Bristol is Open and Manchester’s CityVerve also makes the UK an ideal location for investment, with the Future Cities Catapult supporting the innovation drive both in the UK and globally.

The UK is country partner at this year’s TECH Summit, India’s premier science and technology showcase. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the partnership between the two countries during his visit to the UK in November 2015. The TECH Summit has brought together leading star speakers, British businesses, and science and technology experts to India to show best of what UK has to offer.

UK companies are showcasing a variety of innovative solutions at the TECH Summit. Exhibits include smart meters, a self-driving vehicle, solar-powered grids and advanced technology mobile devices.
