Government supports UK marine industry at Seawork 2015

UKTI DSO leads cross-departmental government support for the UK marine industry at the UK Pavilion at Seawork.

Support for SMEs featured strongly on the UKTI Pavilion at Seawork

Once again UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) had a significant presence at this year’s Seawork Conference and Exhibition.

Joined up government support

The UKTI Pavilion hosted representatives from UKTI Defence and Security Organisation (UKTI DSO) and the UKTI South East International Trade Team.

In addition staff from the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and marine experts from the British Embassy in Rio de Janeiro, highlighted the government’s joined up approach in supporting UK business.

UKTI DSO at Seawork

UKTI DSO focused on military and security exports, offering a wide range of advice, information and support to UK companies on a drop by or pre-appointment basis. Expertise came from:

  • UKTI DSO Small Business Unit
  • UKTI DSO military Export Support Team
  • UKTI DSO Events Team
  • marketing adviser for the US
  • UKTI DSO officers visiting UK firms on their stands

UKTI South East and China

The South East team managed the presence of a Chinese delegation, who were visiting the show to consider UK civil / commercial goods and services. They also provided advice to UK firms on selling non-military items to overseas buyers.

Ministry of Defence

To emphasise government’s joined up approach to supporting UK business UKTI were delighted to be joined by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) Defence Suppliers’ Service. Both exhibitors and visitors were able to learn more about selling their goods and services to the UK Armed Forces.

Members of the MoD’s Boats Team were able to use the pavilion as hub for collecting expressions of interest and increasing their contact network.

Seawork 2016

Planning is already on schedule for Seawork 2016 where we expect once again to be the focus for government support at this expanding and prestigious showcase for the marine industry.
