Future Leaders

On Tuesday 24 September the British Ambassador John Kittmer welcomed Administrative Reform Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and tens of promising new generation Greeks, Future Leaders, who have or will have a role to play in getting Greece back on the track of growth and prosperity.

The event initiated a new dialogue amongst members of the next generation of leaders in Greece, across different areas of society and professions. Our guests shared with us their hopes for the future and their views of the obstacles and opportunities they face. We received some excellent ideas on events the Embassy can host and connections the Embassy can make between Greek and British future leaders.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Vasilis Triantopoulos, the President of the Young Entrepreneurs Association, gave inspiring speeches on what qualities defined leadership and how those gathered could contribute to Greece’s future success.

John Kittmer also set out his vision:

One of the things that is clear to me is that Greece will recover and return to growth because of its great human capital and its capacity for innovation and change. Many Greeks tell me that the country is looking for new types of leadership, new ideas, new models, new ways of doing things. It is for the country itself, of course, to decide on its future. But if Greece is going to rebuild its society and its economy, as it surely will, it seems to me to be in everyone’s interest that new ideas are nurtured, and that new and future leaders, who can identify and implement new ideas, are encouraged and supported.

The Embassy is excited to continue its engagement with the new generation of Greece’s leaders.
