The Department for Communities and Local Government has today appointed Sue Higgins as Director General, Finance and Corporate Services.

Sue Higgins joins from the Department for Education, having previously also worked in local government. She will take up her post at the end of July.

The appointment completes the restructuring process at Director General level within the Department.

Department for Communities and Local Government Permanent Secretary Sir Bob Kerslake welcomed the appointment saying:

I am delighted that Sue will be joining the Department. She has extensive experience in both local and central government and I look forward to working with her. While Sue will focus on the finance and corporate services brief, she will also make an invaluable contribution to the Department as a whole both through our policy programme in areas such as localism and the review of local government funding and her seat on the Board overseeing all the Department’s work.

David Rossington will remain as Acting Director-General, Finance and Corporate Services until the end of July when he will take up his substantive post of Finance Director.

The Department is carrying out a restructuring process at all levels to streamline the organisation and deliver savings.
