Dartford Crossing – temporary suspension of charges

As a result of an incident on the Dartford-Thurrock River Crossing, the Highways Agency has temporarily suspended Charges northbound on the crossing until further notice.

The decision was made at 4.30pm today to help ease the particularly severe congestion which has built up as a result of the emergency and also to reduce the risk of minor collisions in queuing traffic.

We are doing all we possibly can to help keep traffic moving.

The incident, which happened at around 12.30 this afternoon, involved 4 HGVs. We are working hard with our contractors to reopen the west bore as soon as it is safe to do so, which requires approximately 70 metres of the carriageway to be resurfaced. The east bore remains open to traffic.
