Christmas Message from the Deputy Prime Minister

The Deputy Prime Minister has recorded a message for Christmas.

Full transcript is below:

I just wanted to take this opportunity to send my best wishes to everyone ahead of the Christmas break.

If your household is anything like mine, it’s probably non-stop right now, lots of excitement, and last minute preparation - I think my three boys alone could have clogged up Santa’s letterbox.

As holidays go, it’s a pretty hectic time, but, when all the planning and preparation is done - when every card’s been sent, every present wrapped, every turkey cooked - I hope everybody gets a chance to sit back and relax, and just enjoy being around the people you love.

However you do Christmas - whether in a religious way, or not in a religious way; whether you have a big get-together, or it’s a smaller affair; whether you’re the host, or you get to be the guest - I think everyone agrees that it’s the people around us that make this such a special time of year.

So, whatever you’re doing, enjoy yourselves. Have a very Merry Christmas, and a fantastic New Year.
