Chevening Diversity is a campaign run by UK Chevening Alumni to promote the importance of religious and cultural tolerance. It aims to highlight the rich diversity enjoyed in the UK and Indonesia through the arts. Chevening Alumni Film Festival on Aug 27th was the kickoff event for the campaign, featuring the short film ‘Palmyra’ by Chevening Alumnus from Syria, Areej Zayat. Chevening Alumni Association Indonesia (CAAI) has also launched the One Minute Challenge film competition, which is open to all Indonesian Citizens until 1 December 2017.

British Ambassador HE Mr Moazzam Malik says:

The Chevening Diversity campaign is a fantastic example of what a group of talent Chevening Alumni can achieve. The issue of religious and cultural tolerance is one faced by many of us around the world. I am delighted that this group of talented young people is finding innovative ways to generate discussion and debate on this in Indonesia.

The Chevening scholarship is one of the world’s leading programmes to develop future leaders. And the network keeps going even after Chevening scholars return home from the UK. With the huge increase in Chevening scholarships available for Indonesia in recent years, the Chevening family here is growing and I am confident will continue to make a huge contribution to the future of this great G20 country.

  • With 48,000 alumni around the world and over 1,400 alumni in Indonesia, Chevening alumni are a respected and influential network of global leaders.
  • The scheme targets those with the potential to become leaders, decision-makers and opinion-formers in Indonesia who will make a positive contribution to Indonesia’s future.
