Celebrating excellent science advice at the heart of decision making

The Government Office for Science is highlighting the contribution of science to policymaking with a multimedia showcase.

Ever wondered what impact science advice has on real-life situations? You’re in the right place!

Science advice is important for effective government decision making. From shaping responses to national emergencies to informing long-term strategies on climate, technology and health, scientific insight ensures decisions are grounded in evidence – and we recognise the people and work that makes this possible.

The Government Office for Science is kicking off a campaign celebrating the important contribution science advice makes to the policy-making process. Find out how a wide range of scientists, both inside and outside government, are putting excellent science advice right at the heart of decision making.

Government Chief Scientific Adviser Professor Dame Angela McLean said:

Science advice is fundamental to good government. Numerous groups and individuals, such as the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies, the Council for Science and Technology, and the Chief Scientific Adviser Network, work to ensure science is at the forefront of the government’s thinking. Join us in celebrating the people that provide excellent science advice for policymaking, helping to shape the decisions that improve lives across the UK.
