PROMOTE 2022 has come and gone but the impact on UK-Cameroon trade ties will linger much longer.

The Official opening of the UK Pavilion

With 14 exhibitors at the GREAT-branded UK Pavilion and over 1,000 guests mobilised for an array of targeted side events around PROMOTE, our policy interests for Cameroon were on full display and they included:

  • responsible business
  • climate action and renewable energy
  • boosting Cameroon exports with the Economic Partnership Agreement
  • promoting women in business
  • tech and innovation
  • and higher education opportunities

The UK Pavilion had a showcase of some Cameroonian producers of cocoa and Penja Pepper, all beneficiaries of the UK Trade Partnership Programme designed to ease access and facilitate export of the commodities.

UK at PROMOTE guests included the Minister of Commerce, the Minister of Water and Energy, the Minister Delegate in charge of the Commonwealth, the Secretary of State for Mines, senior representation from the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development as well as Her Majesty’s Deputy Trade Commissioner for Africa.

Preceded by a visit to Cameroon by the UK Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy, Sir Jeffrey Donaldson MP, the UK’s participation at PROMOTE 2022 reflects our commitment to supporting sustainable and inclusive economic growth in Cameroon.
