The Rt Hon Baroness Warsi, Senior Minister of State at the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office

The Rt Hon Baroness Warsi, Senior Minister of State at the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office, is visiting Bishkek today. This is Baroness Warsi’s first visit to Kyrgyzstan and the first by a UK Minister since the new British Embassy opened in March 2012.

The purpose of Baroness Warsi’s visit is to discuss a wide range of issues including enhancing regional security; Kyrgyz progress in implementing political and economic reforms; developing commercial links and strengthening the bilateral relationship between the UK and Kyrgyzstan. Baroness Warsi will have a series of high-level meetings with key Kyrgyz government representatives including Prime Minister Jantoro Satybaldiev, First Vice-Prime Minister Joomart Otorbaev and First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Asiya Sasykbaeva.

Baroness Warsi will also open officially the new British Embassy.
