On 18 June, Her Majesty’s Ambassador Judith Farnworth and OSCE Ambassador Sergei Kapinos agreed to support the Kyrgyz Ministry of Defence in improving its management of small and light weapons. The British Embassy in Kyrgyzstan will provide £480 000 of its Conflict Pool funding to the OSCE Centre in Bishkek to enable the Kyrgyz Defence Ministry to effectively manage and control stockpiles of small arms and light weapons and ammunition. This will increase security by reducing the trade in illegal weapons, and prevent accidental explosions that may result in civilian casualties.

The UK Conflict Pool for Central Asia aims to reduce the potential for conflict and promote stability in the region. Click here to learn more about the Conflict Pool.
