Commenting on recent reports appearing in the Gambian media, the British High Commission Banjul today said –
The UK has never acted to destabilise The Gambia or its Government. The UK and The Gambia have a long history and strong cultural and family connections bind our people together. We are serious about building a long-term partnership with The Gambia for generations ahead and hope that we can maintain dialogue with the Government of The Gambia so that we can tackle shared challenges. The UK is a friend of The Gambia and it’s people and it is in the interest of both countries to sustain a broad based relationship founded on mutual respect, mutual trust and mutual benefit’.
