Bharat Joshi to present Pemanda Monappa Scholarship

Meyyappan Nagappan will be presented with The Pemanda Monappa Scholarship for study at the University of Cambridge, UK.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

On Monday 1 September 2014, Meyyappan Nagappan will be presented with The Pemanda Monappa Scholarship for study at the University of Cambridge, UK.

Mr Nagappan has been admitted to Clare Hall and is the 5th recipient of this scholarship instituted by P M Beliappa, IAS (Retd), MBE and Managing Trustee of the Pemanda Monappa Trust. Mr Nagappan has worked with Mohan Parasaran, Solicitor-General of India, one of the highest ranking Law Officers under the Constitution of India.

Ahead of the presentation, Mr Nagappan said:

That Parasaran is a Cambridge alumnus, was an additional incentive to study at the best university in the world. Eventually, I aim to pursue my dream of becoming the finest Senior Counsel (equivalent to Queens Counsel with skill in the English common law system) and I will commit the value of my learning to curing the disconnect between academics and practice through practical solutions for regulatory issues.

Bharat Joshi, British Deputy High Commissioner, Chennai will present the scholarship to Mr Nagappan at a ceremony at the British Council in Chennai.
