Alison Kilburn appointed Joint Head of the Government Economic Service

Alison Kilburn has been appointed as Joint Head of the Government Economic Service (GES), working alongside Professor Brian Bell.

Alison has more than 30 years’ experience in government, holding a number of senior analysis, strategy and policy roles. She is currently Director of Analysis and Chief Economist at the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology. Previously, she has served as Director of Analysis at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, Interim Director of Analysis at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, and Head of the Government Economic Service and Social Research Team at HM Treasury. 

Alison Kilburn said: 

“I am delighted to be taking up the role of Joint Head of the Government Economic Service alongside Professor Brian Bell. I want to build a GES that is outward-looking, intellectually curious, and confident in our advice. I’m excited about what comes next for the profession and looking forward to the opportunities ahead.”
