The Business Secretary, Jonathan Reynolds, is pleased to announce the appointment of Alan Lovell as Chair of British Steel.
As Chair, Alan will lead the Board in stabilising and transforming the company, supporting its long-term future and delivery of its strategic priorities.
Alan brings extensive executive and non-executive leadership experience across infrastructure, construction, energy and financial services, and has led the turnaround and transformation of organisations across a number of sectors throughout his career.
In his executive career, Alan served as Chief Executive Officer of six companies, including Infinis, Tamar Energy and Costain Group plc. He has also held a range of senior non-executive positions, including as Chair of Interserve Group and roles with Lloyd’s of London, SIG and the Consumer Council for Water.
Alan currently serves as Chair of the Environment Agency, a position he has held since September 2022 and will step down at the end of December 2026 following an extended term in post.
