Opportunity mission expert reference group

The opportunity mission expert reference group brings together experts across the breadth of the opportunity mission to focus on breaking the link between children and young people's backgrounds and their future success.

Purpose of the group

The group aims to support delivery of the opportunity mission, providing expert input, evidence and challenge. The group is one of a range of forums and ways in which we’re bringing expertise from outside government into delivery of the mission.

Participation in each meeting is on an advisory basis only. The responsibility for making decisions remains with the Secretary of State for Education and ministers, who are held accountable to Parliament, taking into account all relevant factors and the public sector equality duty.

Meeting dates

The group meets around 6 times a year.
