North West Regional Flood and Coastal Committee (RFCC)

The Regional Flood and Coastal Committee (RFCC) is a committee established by the Environment Agency under the Flood and Water Management Act 2010 that brings together members appointed by Lead Local Flood Authorities (LLFA) and independent members with relevant experience for 3 purposes:

  • to ensure there are coherent plans for identifying, communicating and managing flood and coastal erosion risks across catchments and shorelines
  • to encourage efficient, targeted and risk-based investment in flood and coastal erosion risk management that represents value for money and benefits local communities
  • to provide a link between the Environment Agency, LLFA, other risk management authorities, and other relevant bodies to build understanding of flood and coastal erosion risks in its area

North West RFCC Business Plan

We have produced a business plan for the RFCC, covering the 3 year period from 2019 to 2022. This is so we are clear what we want to achieve and how we will do it.

We consulted on the draft early in 2019 and adopted the final Business Plan in July 2019. The Plan is partly for ourselves but also to communicate and engage with those who:

  • will benefit from our work
  • we might work in partnership with

The business plan sets out our priorities and actions for the period to 2022. It will be supplemented by an annual action plan setting out the actions that will be delivered in each financial year in more detail. We will monitor progress on delivery through our quarterly meetings to ensure we’re on track and adapt to change accordingly.
