The National DNA Database Strategy Board provides governance and oversight over the operation of the National DNA Database (NDNAD) and the national fingerprint database.
The National DNA Database Strategy Board comprises representatives of the National Police Chief’s Council, the Home Office, the DNA Ethics Group, the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners, the Forensic Science Regulator (or her representative), the Information Commissioner’s Office, the Biometrics Commissioner (or his representative), representatives from the police and devolved administrations of Scotland and Northern Ireland and such other members who may be invited.

Assistant Chief Constable Ben Snuggs is the current chair of the National DNA Database Strategy Board on behalf of the National Police Chief’s Council. He is the portfolio lead for crime investigation, criminal justice and intelligence in Hampshire Constabulary. He was appointed to this role on 2 May 2018 and he is also the force lead for cyber crime, digital investigation and intelligence.
