Forensic Information Databases Strategy Board
The Forensic Information Databases Strategy Board provides governance and oversight over the operation of the National DNA Database (NDNAD) and the National Fingerprint Database (IDENT1).
The Forensic Information Databases Strategy Board comprises representatives of the:
- National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC)
- Home Office
- Association of Police and Crime Commissioners
- Biometrics and Forensics Ethics Group
- Forensic Science Regulator
- Information Commissioner’s Office
- Biometrics Commissioner
- Scottish Biometrics Commissioner
- police and devolved administrations of Scotland and Northern Ireland
Other members may also be invited.

Chair
Assistant Chief Constable Simon Wilson of Kent Police is the current chair of the Forensic Information Databases Strategy Board on behalf of the NPCC. He is also the head of the Serious Crime Directorate for Kent Police and Essex Police. Simon has led numerous different investigative arrangements, is a strategic firearms commander, and has previously led national digital projects. As the NPCC lead for homicide prevention, he developed and launched the national response to homicide prevention.
