Details
The Government Skills College of Experts will increase Government Skills’ access to academic networks, broaden its evidence base, and strengthen knowledge exchange across government and academia.
Members of the college were selected to provide expertise to all business areas across the directorate and give external expertise to relevant project areas. They can be called upon dynamically to advise in areas that could benefit from their scientific or technical knowledge. The College of Experts will allow Government Skills to build long-term, ongoing and systematic relationships that provide easier access to scientific advice when needed.
The College of Experts will support Government Skills and be called upon to:
- participate in working groups based on specific themes tied to Government Skills’ Priority Research Topics (PRTs)
- provide independent, high-quality advice on evidence gaps and priorities, research methods, and the use of evidence to ensure Government Skills projects are comprehensive and credible
- offer a means of two-way discussion with the research and scientific communities on topical issues central to Government Skills’ remit
The College of Experts is made up of external experts from across academia and chaired by the Government Skills Interim Deputy Director for Evidence and Impact.
