England Woodland Biodiversity Group

The England Woodland Biodiversity Group (EWBG) is the national trees, woodlands and forests biodiversity forum who advise Defra, the Forestry Commission and Natural England on the policy links between forestry and biodiversity and nature recovery in England.

Terms of reference and operation

Objectives

EWBG’s objectives are to advise Defra, the Forestry Commission, and Natural England on:

  • the management and development of trees, woodlands and forests policy and good practice.
  • the implications of government policy and good practice changes on biodiversity and nature recovery relating to trees, woodlands and forests

The range of topics primarily focuses on activities relating to policy and good practice and may occasionally cover other related topics. The emphasis is on shaping policy rather than regulations or grant development.

EWBG is affiliated with the UK Wood Pasture & Parkland Network (UKWPPN).
