Business Forum on Tax and Competitiveness

In a speech to the Centre for Business Taxation, Oxford University in June 2010 the Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury David Gauke MP announced he would create and chair a forum for business leaders to discuss ways in which the government can improve the competitiveness of the UK's tax system, including the long-term aims of the corporate tax system.

Role of the forum

The forum facilitate an open discussion of the issue of tax in the context of the UK’s international competitiveness.

It provides the government with views from a range of different multinational businesses that can be used to inform the tax reform process and proposals.

The forum complements wider consultation as part of the government’s aim to have an open and transparent approach to tax policy.
