Role of the group
The AI Energy Council, as introduced in the AI Opportunities Action Plan Government Response, was established by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) to address the growing energy demands of AI in the UK. The Council will explore how the government’s AI ambitions can be powered with responsible, clean energy sources, and will promote the safe and secure adoption of AI within the energy system.
The Council is co-chaired by the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology and the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero.
