Advisory Board on the Registration of Homeopathic Products

The advisory board advises on the safety and quality of homeopathic medicines when there's an application for registration, marketing authorisation or licence of right.

Role of the advisory board

The Advisory Board on the Registration of Homeopathic Products’ (ABRHP):

  • gives advice on safety and quality in relation to any homeopathic medicinal product for human use, in respect of which a certificate of registration has been granted or applied for
  • gives advice on safety, quality and efficacy in relation to any homeopathic medicinal product for human use, in respect of which:
    • a marketing authorisation has been granted or has been applied for
    • a licence of right has been granted

Note: efficacy means acceptability within the UK homeopathic tradition.

The secretariat is based at the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

Current vacancies

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is looking to appoint three experts to the Advisory Board on the Registration of Homeopathic Products (ABRHP).

For the three expert posts, candidates should be recognised by their peers as leaders in their field and have extensive and recent experience in one of the following areas:

  • as a Paediatrician

  • as a Pharmacognosist

  • as an Anthroposophic practitioner (medically qualified)

An interest in homeopathy is not required for the Paediatrician or Pharmacognosist posts.
