Academies finance and assurance steering group
The steering group advises the Department for Education (DfE) on academy finance and assurance policies.
Role
The steering group works with the Department for Education (DfE) and academy trusts to:
- ensure there is a robust and proportionate financial governance, reporting and assurance framework for the sector
- develop related products
- provide a forum for DfE to consult on its wider strategic aims

Working groups
There are 4 working groups that will focus on detailed work as directed by the steering group. These are:
- working group 1: academy trust handbook (ATH)
- working group 2: academies financial online forms
- working group 3: academies account direction (AAD)
- working group 4: Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS)
