Consultation description

We want to know what you think about the process of applying for tariff duty suspensions.

The UK’s duty tariff suspensions regime removes tariffs on certain goods imported into the UK. A suspension or quota can be used by any business in the UK, it is not specific to the company which applied. The first suspension application window will open around May 2021.

Your feedback will help to ensure that the suspensions application process is tailored to the needs of businesses and consumers.

In particular we want to know what you think about:

  • the EU suspension application process
  • how the UK’s independent suspension application process should look
  • the timescales for application window cycles, including processing, objecting to and implementing suspension applications
  • any other relevant feedback

We’re keen to hear from businesses and consumer groups who have previous experience of applying for a duty suspension or may apply in the future.

Please email us with written feedback or to set up a discussion.
