£38.7 million allocated to improve transport links in Renfrewshire
£38.7 million from the Levelling Up Fund has been provisionally allocated to Renfrewshire to improve travel links.
£38.7 million from the Levelling Up Fund has been provisionally allocated to Renfrewshire to improve travel links between:
- Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland (AMIDS)
- the towns of Paisley, Renfrew and beyond across Renfrewshire
Included in the plans are:
- a new gateway route along Abercorn Street and Harbour Road
- new and improved dedicated cycling and walking routes
- new roads and bridge crossings
- environmental improvements
- street design improvements
The planned project will provide improvements for:
- public transport
- pedestrians
- motorists
- cyclists
The aims of the project include:
- improving access and connections to employment, education and leisure
- providing safer pedestrian and cycline infrastructure
- cutting carbon emissions with traffic calming measures and encouraging active travel
- creating new job opportunities in the area
- help existing and new companies grow
- boosting the local economy
