£38.7 million from the Levelling Up Fund has been provisionally allocated to Renfrewshire to improve travel links.

£38.7 million from the Levelling Up Fund has been provisionally allocated to Renfrewshire to improve travel links between:

Included in the plans are:

  • a new gateway route along Abercorn Street and Harbour Road
  • new and improved dedicated cycling and walking routes
  • new roads and bridge crossings
  • environmental improvements
  • street design improvements

The planned project will provide improvements for:

  • public transport
  • pedestrians
  • motorists
  • cyclists

The aims of the project include:

  • improving access and connections to employment, education and leisure
  • providing safer pedestrian and cycline infrastructure
  • cutting carbon emissions with traffic calming measures and encouraging active travel
  • creating new job opportunities in the area
  • help existing and new companies grow
  • boosting the local economy
