Driving in Great Britain on a non-GB licence

You can drive in Great Britain for as long as your licence is valid, or until you're 70, if you've got a driving licence from a European Union (EU) country

You can exchange your EU licence for a GB licence if you wish to - for example, if you need a GB licence for your job. You do not have to retake your test to do so.

If you do not have a driving licence yet

Apply for a GB provisional licence.

You can take a driving test in Great Britain after you’ve been living here for at least 185 days.
