1. Directions under section 124A of the Patents Act 1977 varying existing directions in line with the Patents Rules 2007

  1. The comptroller has given the following directions under section 124A of the Patents Act 1977.

  2. These directions come into force on 17 December 2007.

  3. These directions vary the directions given on:

    1 April 2003 ('The 2003 directions');
    23 December 2004 ('The 2004 directions'); and
    7 September 2005 ('The 2005 direction').

  4. The 2003 directions shall be varied as follows:

    In paragraph 1, for the words 'Under Patents Rules 40 and 78' substitute

    'Under rule 35 of the Patents Rules 2007'.

  5. The 2004 directions shall be varied as follows:

    In paragraph 1, for the words 'rule 110A of the Patents Rules 1995' substitute

    'rule 109 of the Patents Rules 2007'.

  6. The 2005 directions shall be varied as follows:

    (a) In paragraph 1, for the words "under rule 77F of the Patents Rules 1995 ('the Rules')' substitute

    'under rule 96 of the Patents Rules 2007 ('the Rules')';

    (b) in paragraph 3, for the words 'rule 77F' substitute

    'rule 96'; and

    (c) in paragraph 3, for the words 'under rule 77E' substitute

    'under rule 95'.
