Details
Households below average income (HBAI) figures are presented for rural and urban areas for the percentage living in relative and absolute low income, both before and after housing costs.
Metadata
Indicators:
- proportion of households in low income
- proportion of working-age people (aged between 16 and 64) in low income
- proportion of children in low income
- proportion of pensioners in in low income
(For these statistics, individuals are said to be in relative low income if they live in a household with an income below 60 per cent of median income (the income earned by the household in the middle of the distribution in a given year). Individuals are said to be in absolute low income if they live in a household with an income below a threshold of median income (60 per cent in this case) in a specific year adjusted for inflation).
