Details of the application

Low Level Waste Repository Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the West Cumbria Permo-Triassic sandstone aquifer within an area within National Grid References SD 05516 99058, SD 05521 99057, SD 05520 99054 and SD 05516 99054.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 8 cubic metres an hour

  • 199 cubic metres a day

  • 13,949 cubic metres a year

  • Between 01 November 2024 and 31 November 2025.

The licence is required for dewatering.
