Hazard

Rad has identified that certain manufacturing deficiencies on certain tyres can increase the likelihood of tyre bead detachment from the rim or reduce resistance to blowouts. Additionally, the products require proper alignment of the rim strip on top of the rim but underneath the tyre tube for proper operation. If the rim strip is not properly aligned, tyre tube punctures can occur and a tyre tube could rapidly deflate. Rad has also determined that some of the tyres specified for the RadWagon 4 are not suitably resistant to external damage and flats. If a tyre bursts or rapidly deflates during use, the rider may fall and experience injuries. Tyres with a ‘ribbed’ sidewall are in scope of this issue, and tyres with a ‘smooth’ sidewall are not affected.

Corrective action

Rad have introduced a modification programme to replace the existing e-bikes with ribbed sidewalls with new tyres. For further information, please visit the Rad Power Bikes website at: https://radpowerbikes.eu/pages/087148231835
