Use this sample letter to get proof a partner promised in court not to harass or threaten you, if you're applying for legal aid.

To get a written copy of the promise, known as the ‘undertaking’:
- fill in the sample letter as best you can
- send it to the court where the promise was made
A copy costs £5, but you may be able to get help with the fee.
You can use the promise as evidence if you’re applying for legal aid to divorce or separate from an abusive partner.
