Call for evidence – Drug Use in Ethnic Minority Groups Review

The Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs (ACMD) has previously investigated vulnerability and risk factors to developing drug dependence [footnote 1] and vulnerability of specific groups including young people [footnote 2], homeless [footnote 3], and LGBT communities [footnote 4]. Following this work, the ACMD has agreed to begin a self-commissioned workstream investigating drug use in ethnic minority groups.

The aim of this report is to consider the evidence regarding prevalence of drug use in ethnic minority groups, challenges facing the reporting and engagement in and access to treatment services.

The ACMD would be grateful for your response as part of a public call for evidence by Friday 27 October 2023.

We welcome submissions of evidence from as broad a spectrum of participants as possible and would therefore be grateful if you could please circulate this call for evidence to other colleagues and relevant stakeholders.

The ACMD will use this evidence to assist in formulating advice to government.
