Our mission
We opened as a fully functioning embassy on 2 April 2013 after a 27-year absence from Laos. Our aim is to reinvigorate and enhance the relationship between the UK and Laos. We are doing this by engaging with the Lao government, business, civil society and other stakeholders to champion our values, safeguard our security, build our prosperity and support UK nationals in Laos.
Building prosperity with South East Asia
As part of South East Asia, Laos is part of a diverse and distinct region that represents a number of opportunities for the UK. As such, there is an opportunity to advance UK interests by taking a regional approach in addition to bilateral activities.
