Overview

We attend a range of events to meet customers and give advice and guidance on planting woodland. We also hold face-to-face and online training events and webinars on specific grant schemes and areas of forestry, that we encourage people to sign up to in advance.

We update this page regularly with new events.

Forestry Facing the Future: a 50-year horizon scan (online series)

The Forestry Commission and the Institute of Chartered Foresters are hosting a series of webinars to examine the threats and opportunities faced by our forests and the forestry sector.

Association of Professional Foresters (APF 2024)

Date: 19 to 21 September (Warwickshire)

Come and meet us at APF 2024. We’ll be giving advice and support on woodland creation, woodland management, and pests and diseases. See Forest Research demonstrating their work in their innovative mobile laboratory.

The Collingham Show

Date: 21 September (Nottinghamshire)

Weald of Kent Ploughing Match

Date: 21 September

Newbury Show

Date: 21 to 22 September (Berkshire)

We will be on hand to discuss woodland creation and the benefits of woodland on your land and the grants and incentives available. Come and talk to us for advice and support at the Newbury Show.

Chichester Ploughing Match

Date: 22 September (West Sussex)

East Kent Ploughing Match

Farmers Weekly: Alternative Land Use

Halstead Ploughing Match

Managing deer across the English landscape

Date: 1 October (Hampshire)

After a sell-out event last year, England’s largest one day deer conference returns with a range of speakers from across the land management and research sectors. Topics covered will include bovine TB, the history of deer in the UK and the latest in technology for deer management.

Brailsford Ploughing Match

Date: 2 October (Derbyshire)

The Dairy Show

Date: 2 October (Somerset)

We have a stand at this year’s Dairy Show. We will have experts on hand to answer any questions you might have around woodland creation, woodland management and the grants available. Come and meet us to get one-to-one advice on what the best options are for you and your land.

Basingstoke and District Ploughing Match

Date: 5 October (Hampshire)

Woodland Creation - Delivering your EWCO Project

Date: 7 October (Cornwall)

The Forestry Commission and Forest for Cornwall invite you to Delivering your EWCO Project. This workshop will provide everything you need to know to deliver your England Woodland Creation Offer (EWCO) project, in accordance with the grant offer.

Woodland Condition Assessment webinar

Date: 8 October (online)

Join the Forestry Commission, Natural England, Sylva Foundation and Field Studies Council (FSC) to learn more about Woodland Condition Assessment (WCA). The webinar will run through the WCA process, how it’s used in the statutory biodiversity metric and provide an overview of the new WCA app, guides and training. Book this online event via Eventbrite. The webinar will be recorded.

National Forestry Conference 2024

Date: 9 October

The annual Forestry Conference, organised by the CLA, Forestry Commission and Grown in Britain, is back for a 17th year. The 2024 focus is ‘Products, People and Possibilities’, taking a practical and informed look at a range of market opportunities, and will feature a packed programme of sessions and talks.

British National Ploughing Championships

Date: 12 to 13 October (Nottinghamshire)

Come and visit us at the British National Ploughing Championships. We’ll be at this 2-day event talking about woodland creation, the benefits of woodland and the grants and incentives available.
