Hazard
The product presents a serious risk of choking as the toy’s batteries could be removed without the aid of a tool. Access to batteries could occur and they may be placed in the mouth and swallowed, causing a choking hazard for young children.
Following a mechanical strength test of the enclosure, there was a short-circuit between the external terminals of the batteries with the 0.5mm diameter rod. The short-circuit causes a smoke release and generates a maximum temperature rise of 99.3c on the batteries, more than the maximum authorised value of 45c, presenting a burns hazard.
The product does not comply with the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011
Corrective action
The product has been recalled from end users.
The listing has been removed by the online marketplace (eBay)
