1. Request

  1. What measures were taken by the SIA to ensure that all security officers involved directly or indirectly with the security of the G7 were correctly accredited?
  2. What inspections of locations where G7 related security officers were performing duties were randomly inspected?
  3. How many security officers were found not to be correctly accredited?
  4. What action is the SIA taking for non-compliance?

2. Response

We hold part of the information that you have requested and our response can be found below.

  1. The SIA did not have responsibility for the accreditation process at the G7. Our responsibility was to ensure that security operatives undertaking licensable conduct were licensed in accordance with the Private Security Industry Act 2001. To this effect, the SIA engaged with Government agencies, law enforcement agencies, primary and subcontracted security providers in line with established compliance procedures. In order to establish who was responsible for the accreditation process, I suggest that you contact the Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office or the Devon and Cornwall Police.

  2. The SIA did not undertake any random inspections at G7 locations.

  3. The SIA did not have responsibility for the accreditation process at the G7. The SIA is not aware of any non-compliance with the Private Security Industry Act 2001 at G7 locations.

  4. Not applicable.
